The London Sports Volunteer Recognition Award Winners are ...

Every year the City of London and the London Sports Council honour members of our community who, through their tireless efforts, help keep sports in our community strong.  This year, we are very pleased to announce that two London Ringette Association members have been presented with a London Sports Volunteer Recognition Award. Congratulations to Shawn Reidy and Melinda Suchard.  

Melinda is currently our LRA Vice President.  Melinda has been involved with ringette since she played as a child.  She has coached for 15+ years, and served on the LRA Board for 10+ years in various roles.  She has been been Tournament Director for the last two years, including hosting the first ever LORL League Championships.  This year she also returned to on-ice coaching with the Fun1/Fun2 Program.

Shawn is currently the President of both the LRA and Bandits Minor Hockey.  He is currently the longest tenured Ringette Association President in the area, and often fields questions from other association Presidents that can rely on his wealth of knowledge.  He has coached for many years, including coaching two Provincial level teams in 2024-2025 (U19A and Open-A).  Shawn also doubled as LRA Equipment Manager this season, when another Board member withdrew.  He can often be found helping with goalie clinics, tryouts, or whatever other LRA initiatives are under way.  

The London Ringette Association could not function without the hard work of its volunteers, especially these two.  We are so happy to see them recognized by the City of London and London Sports Council for their tremendous contribution to the community and to the sport of ringette.
