London U12A was a perfect 5-0. They began their weekend raking Richmond Hill and Burlington 14-5 and 6-1. Their final round robin game was a tightly contested, 6-5, back-and-forth affair with Metcalfe. In the semi-finals London would get a bit of a scare early, coughing up a goal 11 seconds into the game. Thankfully the Lynx would wake-up and settle-in and push their way past a determined Guelph team, 5-3.
In the finals, London would rematch against Metcalfe. Taking nothing for granted after their close round robin match, London came fired up, ready to play. In a somewhat anti-climactic finish, London would turn in a dominating performance. Their suffocating forecheck, relentless back-checking and superior stamina were on display in a 7-1 triumph.
This was the beginning of a new frontier for London U12A. Many of their early season successes had been focused around the success of a smaller group of players. In Burlington, this gave way to a broad-based, team effort, with incredible contributions, up-and-down the lineup, by all 13 players. If U12A can keep this dynamic going, there will be great things ahead. Good work girls!
